Isolated motivation
New South Wales’ longest and most gruelling lockdown began at the end of June this year, pressing pause on normal life and stripping residents of their everyday freedoms, dining out, playing sport, going to gyms and travelling, just to name a few.
Motivation levels are at an all time low for many Australians. With nothing to work towards or look forward to, it is much easier to sit inside and watch a movie or read a book than be productive with study or even think about exercising.
I was able to seek perspective from an array of different people, including those who are normally very active and fit when not in lockdown, a HSC student and teacher who had insights into the benefits of exercise for a healthy mind, and a couple of retirees, who understand the substantial benefit physical activity has on their overall health.
